The Unbroken Succession of the Apostles Joyfully Continues

Please join us at two o’clock by livestream for the Episcopal Ordination Mass in which Monsignor Michael W. Fisher will be ordained an auxiliary bishop for the Church of Washington.

Together with the actual conferral of the fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders, this Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will include the presentation of the Bishop-Elect, a reading of the Apostolic Letter by the Apostolic Nuncio, the laying on of hands, anointing of the bishops’ head, the presentation of the ring, miter and pastoral staff, and other solemn ordination rites.

Pope Francis named Bishop-elect Fisher an auxiliary bishop on June 8. Along with the two other active auxiliary bishops in Washington, he will assist me in the pastoral care of the more than 655,000 Catholics of the archdiocese. Thank you for your prayers for him in his ordination and as he serves our family of faith and the greater community.
