Prayer and Continuity in the Eternal City

As you may know, I have traveled to Rome to meet with our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, in the final days of his pontificate, and then to prepare for the upcoming conclave to elect the next successor of Peter.

During this time, you will certainly continue to be in my thoughts and my prayers, and I ask that you keep me in yours.  We Cardinal electors will rely very much on your prayers.

Blog postings and my columns in the Catholic Standard will continue to be published because they have been prepared in advance. The rules of the conclave prohibit outside communications.  As we continue our journey in Lent during this Year of Faith on the way to the Paschal Mystery in the hope of life ever-lasting, may the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

One Response to “Prayer and Continuity in the Eternal City”

  1. Eloise says:

    Your Grace,
Just to let you know that we, here in Switzerland, watch mass from the Basilica in Washington as and when broadcast by EWTN.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this special time in the life of
the Catholic Church – of which we all are the body.
I express my profound gratitude to you, and to the College of Cardinals,
for the diligence and inspiration that will give us a Successor.
The online televising of Holy Mass from churches in Ireland, Toronto,
Manhattan, Washington DC, and others, including EWTN, highlights one’s awareness of how truly the “one holy catholic and apostolic church” links us all as a family.
    Thank you and God bless
    Eloise
